Explorers, as you set off for a summer of adventures, be sure to stay mindful of the wildlife around you. Remember that all your activities add up to make your carbon footprint (a measure of the impact your actions have on the world). Are you making smart conservation choices? Look through the “how you can help” section in my past blog entries to learn ways you can make your carbon footprint smaller and help wildlife.

Teachers, use this resource from National Geographic and the Wildlife Conservation Society to help students better understand how their actions affect the planet. Activities involve mapping out your carbon footprint, discovering the perils of plastic and discussing how to protect the earth’s wildlife (including this week’s spotlight animal: the okapi).

Happy summer and happy exploring! Thanks to National Geographic and the Wildlife Conservation Society for sharing!
